It’s fun to follow the color trends for home paints. If you’re thinking of putting your home on the market, you may want to repaint the inside and outside with the current trend to get higher offers.
One of the best ways to increase your home appraisal is painting a home inside and out.
Inside Home Colors
The Food Network Magazine reported that the kitchen colors trending now are
- Bee’s Wax – Sherwin Williams
- Fresh Sprout – Behr
- Lemon Sorbet – Benjamin Moore
- Red Delicious – Glidden
- Brown Buzz – Valspar
Overall, the interior paint trends are leaning towards neutrals with bold accents like electric blue. The accents could be a different color ceiling or an accent wall as well as trim. In the kitchen, you could have natural wood cabinets and neutral counters while adding in a burst of color on a few cabinets. Behr has an example here of color blocking in the kitchen.
External Home Colors
External colors are trending towards very safe neutrals with a rise in satin and eggshell finishes on exteriors of homes.
New York designer Tina Ramchandani sees a rise in paint colors inspired by nature. “I see exterior paint colors in 2013 leaning toward muted colors such as grays, golds, yellows and greens,” she says. “Colors often found in nature are trending at this time.”
Doors are being painted with bold colors like bright red, teal, and even yellow.
Additionally, people are looking into adding green construction with reclaimed wood paneling to add accents, or even reclaimed brick to add a classical feel.
We know a lot of people paint the insides of their homes by themselves. Have you ever painted the outside by yourself?
And do you think you’d like a door that pops with color?
